Fixed fee billing costs on average 30% more on an annual basis. Essentially, there is no such thing as fixed fee billing as there are always extras, and the “fixed fee” rises if the original work estimates are too low. Hourly billing ensures you are only billed for the actual services you request.

No problem. We can assign other staff. This does not happen often because all of our staff are seasoned professionals and are versatile enough to be able to work in many different environments.

We will acknowledge your contact within 2-4 business hours and provide an immediate response, if possible. We seek to provide complete answers within one business day, however, depending on the complexity and third parties involved (i.e. CRA, Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development of Ontario), it can take longer. We will let you know if more time is required. We use a Practice Management system with all workflows, tasks, timing, resources and communications and the system is continuously used and monitored by our staff and management to help ensure all deadlines are met.

Yes, if we have staff who live within a reasonable distance from your workplace. We try to structure onsite work in increments of full days to make the travel time worthwhile. 

Yes, if there is no need to work in the office, Flexserv professionals will access your systems online and will communicate with you via video conferencing and email, as if you were in the same physical location. All Flexserv professionals are located in Canada. Whether working onsite or remotely, we use Practice Management tools to track all of the time and activities performed by our professionals.

You will have the same designated Flexserv professional(s) to work with you on an ongoing, long-term basis. You never have to call a call center. You will have your own bookkeeper and/or controller and/or HR professional, according to your needs.

We want to learn about you and your business needs and we will describe what we do and how we can assist. Within a couple of days, you will receive an electronic agreement. Once you review and accept it, we schedule an onboarding meeting with you, set up or tailor your systems, and then begin the work.

A large portion of our services cater to organizations from abroad that have established operations in Canada. We proudly engage a diversified workforce to cater to staff in your home office, if your headquarters are located outside of Canada.

Generally, Flexserv clients have a minimum of 5 staff, however, exceptions are made, depending on circumstances. Most clients range in size from 5 staff to 70 staff.

Organizations that have tens of thousands of staff. We can be the only controller, bookkeeper or HR professional for your organization or we can provide those 2-3 days extra per week to help you handle the workload when you don’t need an additional full-time person.

Although this is discouraged, our agreements do describe the fees that permit this in certain circumstances. 

At that time, we would recommend that you engage our HR team to recruit a full-time bookkeeper, controller or HR professional to meet your requirements. Because we are continuously recruiting our own controllers, bookkeepers and HR professionals, we can provide great value to you for these recruiting assignments. As you continue to grow, you can again engage Flexserv bookkeepers, controllers or HR professionals as you need us to supplement your full-time employees.

We will support you on the technology platform of your choice. If our bookkeeper is unfamiliar with your platform, they will happily take the training offered by your vendor to become proficient.

Yes, you will quickly understand how to use the tools in our TechPak. We use a combination of pre-recorded videos and in-person training to ensure you are comfortable with the technology. You have full support from our controllers, bookkeepers and in-house technology specialists to answer any questions.

We will try to accommodate you as best we can. If Flexserv has capacity, we will offer it to you. It is common for us to do “Cleanups of accounting messes” when we first get started. This could mean going back one or more years to get the books in order so that taxes can be filed. 

We can treat the development of an employee handbook, and other HR deliverables, as a project.

We also support M&A activities by either back-filling for regular operational roles when full-time staff are pulled off to support the M&A or we can provide the due diligence support to help get the deal done.

We look after your accounting and HR from the early stages of your company until you grow large enough to bring all of these functions in-house. And we’re the ones who will build your in-house capacity as you grow through our HR/Recruiting practice.

In every case, it will be less than what you would pay for full-time staff.
